THINGS ARE NOT ALWAYS THE WAY THEY SEEM

When we look back on our childhood or our young adult life - we sometimes see
the glass as very cloudy. We see things that maybe were not there or twist them around
to a different meaning than what they were meant to be.

I had this lesson driven home to me very clearly this month.

We have 3 weiner dogs (spoiled rotten in every way) - well. As you know weiner dogs are
an accident waiting to happen with their backs. They go out so easy and paralize them.

This happened to our Scooter - we are treating him every way we can because he
still has value to his life and brings joy to ours.

Well to make my point - as I was growing up - my brother was always very ill. He had
juvenile diabetes at a very young age. He always required special treatment, special
meals and just treated in a different way.

My feelings were always that I was neglected and pushed aside. It seemed as though I
was always critized for never doing anything right - and I now realize I was critized because
my brother could not do some of the things I did.

I can now relate to this - as we watched Scooter struggle to take a step, we just praised
him and gave him attention - while the other two dogs were giving us a ball to throw, jumping
in our face for attention - we just ignored them as all our attention was on the one with
problems.

My brother died at a very early age (40) and my mother was never the same after
that and I became less and less in her eyes - I even felt guilty for being the one
to live. The criticism continued thoughout my life - causing me to draw within myself.

Now to the point - when I would take our Scooter out and sit him down in the grass, I
would take all three of them out at the same time - my focus was so intent on the one with
problems that I would forget about the other two - which caused them to drift off in different
directions - I had tunnel vision to make sure the one with all the problems was ok that I
forgot about the other two.

The point was driven home to me very strongly that I had felt resentment toward my mother for
a very natural way of responding to difficult situations.

I now feel different about my upbringing and less angry at my mother.
It taught me that the old saying of "you don't know until you walk in their shoes."
Not comparing my little weiner dog to my brother's problems - but the things that
go through our minds are sometimes the same.

Neglect comes in all forms - sometimes it is meant to neglect due to lack of caring.
Smetimes it is neglect due to tunnel vision of other problems.
Sometimes it is neglect out of trying to make up for one's disabilities, therefore taking
away from others unintentionally.

I see through the glass a lot clearer today due to the lessons my little weiner dog taught me.

It seems that the e-mail is being looked at very closely and the theory of paying to send e-mail is
becoming closer and closer something that just may develop. If this does happen - it will cost a bundle just
to get signed up to send e-mails.

I read an article this week that states it will cost over $1,000 just to be bonded to send e-mail. Won't declare it as
gospel just yet - but checking into it a lot further.

Bin Laden wept in pain and said to the Angel, "This is not what
you promised me."

 
The Angel replied, "I told you there would be 72 Virginians
waiting for you in heaven. What did you think I said"?

- Tip of the day.

REMOVE WAX FROM CARPETING
Place a paper towel over the stain and draw the wax up into it by placing a warm iron over the paper towel (this is called "capillary action"); repeat if necessary. Sponge the stained area with 1 c. isopropyl alcohol and 2-3 c. water if the stain remains. Sponge from the outside to the inside of the stain. Be very sure not to get the area too wet or you can bring up a stain from the padding.
